Your kitchen stays yours

Foyer has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your recipes, inventory, equipment, meal plans and leftovers are stored in a database on your phone and never sent to us. The app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Everything you put into Foyer. It works without an internet connection, and deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else.

Only when you ask it to, for two features:

• Scanning a barcode. Foyer sends the barcode number to Open Food Facts, a free, open food database, to look up the product's name, size and category. Only the number is sent — nothing about you or the rest of your inventory.
• Importing a recipe from a link. Foyer downloads that web page directly from the site it's on, the same way a browser would, to read the recipe.

Those sites see an ordinary request from your phone (such as its IP address) and handle it under their own privacy policies.

The camera is used only to scan barcodes and cookbook pages, and photo access only when you pick a picture of a recipe page to scan. Reading the text from a page happens on your phone; the photo isn't uploaded. Cooking timers use notifications scheduled on your phone — there is no notification server.

foyer.kitchen has no cookies, analytics or trackers, and its fonts are served from this site rather than a third party. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information (like IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site.

Messages to support@foyer.kitchen are read only to help you and answer, and include only what you choose to write.

If Foyer ever starts handling data differently, this page will change first, with a new date at the top.
